Palmeiras Bravas

This publication, designed by Studio Manuel Raeder in close dialogue with Pedro Barateiro, is published after the exhibition Palmeiras Bravas / The Current Situationat the Museu Coleção Berardo in Lisbon. The works exhibited were conceived specifically for this occasion.
Extending the preoccupations of his previous work, Pedro Barateiro fosters the rapprochement of artist and spectator, where, in the context of late capitalism, the latter may be boiled down to a consumer whose perception has been constrained by the binary terms “desire” and “expectation” engendered by the market. It is with this underlying precept that the artist proceeds with his deconstruction of the perceptual changes provoked by the objects and images that he presents in this exhibition. The book manages to register the installation, described by Pedro Lapa, curator of the exhibition and author of the main essay.
