Pathosformel

«Pathosformel is the title of a complex project developed by Vasco Araújo at the School of Arts, Universidade Católica Portuguesa. The project includes a film, an installation and this research notebook, which was created by the artist while preparing and developing his works.
We may think of this book as a sort of script or even a field register. Rather than rehearsing technical issues related to the placement of the camera or notes on acting or lighting, the artist in his notebook materialises a poetic disposition that secretly nurtured the works he developed. While this disposition is prolonged and expressed throughout the pieces of sentimental fiction the artist proposes, the notebook also creates a possible context for reading a significant part of the work he has developed until now.»
