Chance Meeting

Since the late 1990’s, the main body of work by Miguel Soares (Braga, 1970) is composed of laboriously constructed 3D animations, indebted to an undeniably do-it-yourself ethos, which usually draw their inspiration from the long and manifold streams of science fiction. In some of these works, he has depicted dystopian worlds in a more or less distant future, which reverberate the fears and anxieties related to some of the somber and tragic realities of the world we live in. Three of these works are being discretely shown here in a kind of archival setting, providing a counterpoint to the main focus of the exhibition: the presentation of four new 3D animations, in which a loose plot functions as a trigger for engaging rhythmic and choreographic compositions.
